How is a Stroke
Investigated and Treated

You will be asked some quick questions about when your stroke happened and your health and medications

A quick examination will be done

You will undergo a quick CT scan or MRI of your brain

If you have an Ischemic Stroke and are within 4.5 hours from your stroke onset, you will be offered a medicine to dissolve the clot in your blood vessel. This procedure is called "Thrombolysis"

If the clot is in a major vessel supplying your brain and depending upon the facility available at the hospital, a procedure called endovascular thrombectomy may be performed, to remove the clot from the blood vessel.

You will be admitted in a stroke unit for monitoring and investigations why the stroke happened.

Appropriate medications will be started like aspirin, blood pressure lowering drugs, cholesterol lowering medications, anti diabetic drugs etc.

Physiotherapy will be started for side that is weak.
